Spacing

When riding in a group, it is generally the practice that the group ride in a staggered formation of 2 columns. spacing
The Ride Captain will always be the lead rider. There is no absolute protocol that dictates which side of the lane the Ride Captain occupies, however, as a general rule, the Ride Captain rides on the inside portion, or left side, of the lane.
Once the Ride Captain is in place, the rest of the riders fall in to 2 columns. When the Ride Captain begins the ride, he/she will take the lead and the rider to the left or right of the Ride Captain will begin the staggered formation.
